| Virtual Swimmers If you really want to swim smart, it's time to do begin to do a few basics to keep yourself motivated and on-track to getting closer to your potential in competitive swimming. BASIC KNOWLEDGE: Each of you should know the rules of each stroke, start, turn, finish. Each of you should know the time standards for your age group and where you stand against those standards. MONITOR AND TRACKING TOOLS: Keep a swim log to list your accomplishment ( personal best times ) and splits of each of your races and goals. Use the USA and YMCA Time standards as milesones to your time goals. For technique and training improvment, champions use a swim journal to capture all tips, ideas and lessons learned about swimming. They also keep track of yardage and different sets they swam or enjoyed in theri training. In short, learn from everything you do in training annd racing ! |
